Our children may be returning back to school, but we're not going back to normal. This year in Illinois, families and educators are teaming up to collect our #RightToCare. We demand early childhood care families can afford, access and trust and fair pay to educators that dedicate their lives to our children. To be honest, the reason I started working in childcare was because I had no idea how my family was going to afford it. Now, I run a daycare center that my child attends. I can tell you firsthand that we aren’t just asking these teachers to educate our children; they’re modeling allyship and teaching them how to care for one another. Sadly, we keep passing up really great candidates at our center because we can’t afford to pay them with our current funding. It’s impossible to find passionate teachers that are able to make $12/hr to come in and make a difference.
