Our children may be returning back to school, but we're not going back to normal. This year in Illinois, families and educators are teaming up to collect our #RightToCare. We demand early childhood care families can afford, access and trust and fair pay to educators that dedicate their lives to our children. The stress and pressure of working full time while taking

By Melissa Pohtre

I’m a single mom taking care of my son full time while maintaining a job at a local community college. The COVID-19 pandemic hit my son and I’s life hard. The stress and pressure of working full time while taking care of my son started to take its toll on both of us. But when my daycare was able to open back up, with many safety procedures in place for the protection of all the children , it helped us both immensely. Childcare is so important when the parents have to work. As a single parent, if I didn’t have quality child care I could not work at all. It’s imperative these programs receive the necessary funding to continue.
